Turning Online Writing Into Money

When I first began writing on the internet, I really did not have any idea what was in store for me.  I did not really think that it would end up being a big money maker, but as time passed, I found my audience was beginning to grow, and I wanted to see if there was any way that I could capitalize on the popularity of my blog.  I had invested a whole lot of time on my pieces of writing that I posted online, and I figured that it would be nice to be able to get a return on my investment.  Because I am not the most business savvy person in the world, I needed a little bit of help in order to get started on my new endeavor.  How, exactly does one go about turning their blog or website into a profitable business?

With this question in mind, I began looking to the internet for details.  Was allowing companies to advertise on my page the only method I could use?  What other ways could I turn my writing into a profit without selling out my already existing fans?  Once I began to monetize my posts on my page, how long would it take me to start seeing the revenue roll in?  I began looking for websites that provided free information regarding these specific questions, and I very nearly suffered information overload when I saw all of the results of my internet searches.  This has, apparently, become a huge way for people to go into business for themselves, and so naturally there were many people who were writing about it on the web.  In order to make sure that all of the info that I was getting was accurate and that I was not going to waste my time doing things that have not been proven to work, I made sure to visit many different sites that discussed these topics.

The information that I took most to heart was what I received from people who I already knew had been successful at doing this.  If it worked for someone else, it was likely that it would also work for me so long as I did it properly.  The advice that I got from these people included selling ad space and setting up partnerships with larger companies.  I was not huge on the whole advertising thing and I really did not want to bombard my readership with a bunch of annoying ads, and so the latter seemed to be the better route for me to take.  Basically, all I had to do was link to popular retail sites and tell my readers to click my link in order to make their purchases.  Some of these affiliate companies even offered discounts to customers who clicked my link.

Thankfully, I was able to find all of the information that I needed in order to get this done right, and I am now generating a decent amount of revenue.
